The Juchiman


 
It was designed by “Lic. Carmen Sousa”, it is made up with  several elements.
This archeological piece called JUCHIMÁN, is made up with black serpentine. It belongs to the Olmec Culture and represents the IXTLITLÓN, “ King of the Black Waters” which is represented by a man with African features, jaguar characteristics and thick lips and he is seated in a Buddha.

It was donated to the Institute by “D. Abraham Bandala” on June 1896 and since that date it is the symbol of the university.

It´s image is before the shield of our University at “Instituto Juarez”, it is on Av, 27 Febrero  no.  640, Col Centro Villahermosa, Tabasco.
